THE RULES
1. Who runs this
OFFBEAT is a free browser game made by achref.dev (the "Organizer"). Contact: Instagram @achref.dev.
This contest is not sponsored, endorsed or run by Instagram or Meta, or by Anthropic. By taking part you release Instagram/Meta and Anthropic from any responsibility linked to it. "Claude" is a product of Anthropic and is only named as the prize.
2. How to win
- The contest runs for 10 days, between the start and end times shown at the top of this page.
- The game has 10 records. Each one unlocks after you clear the previous one.
- The winner is the first player whose clear of Record 10 is verified by the server during the contest, and who then passes the live check (section 5). The server's clock decides who was first.
- Every run is re-played on the server from your inputs. A run counts only if the replay reaches the same result, the inputs came from a real keyboard, mouse or touch screen, they follow a real-time clock, and the failed attempts before it are on record.
- Every clear of Record 10 is provisional until the live check is passed.
- If nobody clears Record 10, nobody wins the prize. The ranking still stays up.
3. The prize
One prize: one month of a Claude subscription, worth US$20, given as a gift subscription or as US$20 to pay for it. No cash alternative beyond that, and it can't be transferred.
4. Who can play
- Free to enter. No purchase needed.
- You need a public Instagram account. Your handle is your player name. You must be 18 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
- One player per person. Shared, bought or borrowed accounts are not allowed.
5. Claiming the prize
- The winner must DM @achref.dev from the Instagram account matching their player handle within 72 hours.
- Live check (required): on a video call with hands and screen visible, the winner plays a verification link. It is Record 10 remixed into a layout nobody has seen before (same tempo and rules, proven beatable by the server). The winner can retry during the call. The prize is paid only after this check is passed.
- If the winner doesn't respond, or fails the check, the prize goes to the next verified player in order.
6. Fair play
Bots, AI or computer-vision players, scripts, macros, auto-clickers, modified game files, faked requests, extra or shared accounts, or any attempt to exploit the game or the server lead to disqualification and removal from the ranking. Only one game session per player is active at a time. The Organizer's decision on fair play is final.
7. Privacy notice
What we store: your Instagram handle, a scrambled (hashed) version of your PIN, your progress, and the inputs of each attempt (the exact moments you pressed and released jump, whether each came from a real keyboard, mouse or touch, and its timing). We also store your device type (phone or PC), your browser type and a scrambled form of your network address. The network address is used only to stop abuse; we never store it in readable form.
Why: to run the ranking, verify runs and stop cheating, and to improve OFFBEAT and future games. That last part uses gameplay statistics such as where players fail and how timing changes with practice.
What we don't do: we don't sell your data, we don't show your inputs publicly, and we don't ask for your email, phone number or real name.
How long: your handle and account are deleted within 90 days after the contest ends. Gameplay statistics may be kept with no link to your handle.
Your rights: you can ask to see or delete your data at any time by DMing @achref.dev. Deleting your account removes you from the ranking. We handle your data in line with Algeria's Law 18-07 on personal data protection, and with the rules of your own country where they apply.
Where: data is stored with Vercel (hosting) and Turso (database), whose servers may be outside your country.
8. Changes
If something breaks, for example a bug that makes the game unfair, the Organizer may pause, fix or extend the contest. Any change will be announced on Instagram and on this page.
